FAQ

1.Q1. What is a CO₂ mixing machine used for?

A CO₂ mixing machine dissolves carbon dioxide into a beverage to a set level as the product flows through the line. It replaces batch carbonation in a tank with continuous inline carbonation, so carbonation is controlled once by the system instead of being repeated and re-tested for every batch. It is used for beer, sparkling water, soft drinks, flavoured beverages, cider and kombucha.

2.How is a CO₂ mixer different from a carbonation stone or a brite tank?

A carbonation stone dissolves CO₂ inside a tank, which is a batch process — each tank has to be carbonated, held and then tested. A CO₂ mixing machine works inline and continuously: liquid and CO₂ are combined and mixed as the product flows toward the filler, so carbonation is set once by the control system rather than repeated per batch. Inline carbonation is the usual choice once production runs continuously, because it gives more consistent carbonation with less tank time and less CO₂ loss.

3.What carbonation level can it reach, and in what unit is it measured?

The mixer covers roughly 1.5–10 g/L of CO₂ (about 0.8–5 volumes), which spans lightly carbonated products through to sodas, and it holds the set point to ±0.05 volumes at a working pressure of 0.2–0.6 MPa and a product temperature of 0–10 °C. Carbonation level is set through the inline mixing control and verified against your product target. Both units are used in the industry — g/L for process control and volumes of CO₂ for product specification — so tell us which unit your own target is expressed in, and we will confirm the achievable range and control accuracy.

4.Do I need a CO₂ mixer if I already carbonate in the bright tank?

Not always. Batch carbonation in a bright tank is workable at low volumes, where the tank has time to carbonate and stabilise. An inline CO₂ mixer pays back once production is continuous and tank time becomes the bottleneck, or when the same carbonation level has to be held across a long filling run. It also frees the tank for storage rather than carbonation duty.

5.Can it carbonate kombucha and cider as well as beer?

Yes. The machine is suitable for beer, sparkling water, soft drinks, flavoured beverages, cider and kombucha. Applicable carbonation levels differ by product — kombucha and cider are often carbonated to a lower level than beer — and the inline design lets you set the target per product run rather than compromising on one fixed level across the whole range.

6.Can it be added to an existing production line?

Yes. The inline continuous mixing design connects directly into an existing production line, so it can be added upstream of your filler without rebuilding the rest of the process. The unit has a compact stainless steel structure and low maintenance requirements. Send us your current line layout and product targets and we will confirm the connection points.

7.How is carbonation consistency controlled?

Consistency comes from controlling the ratio of liquid to CO₂ continuously at the mixing point, rather than carbonating a tank and relying on the whole volume equalising. Optimised mixing technology brings CO₂ into solution quickly and uniformly as the product flows, and the inline design applies a single set point across the entire production run instead of per batch. That is what removes batch-to-batch variation in carbonation.
