Automatic PET Bottle Filling Line FAQ

1.Does the line include PET bottle blowing, or only filling?

It includes both. The configuration starts with a blow molding machine that produces PET bottles from preforms, feeding them through an air conveyor into the rinser-filler-capper. A bottle conveyor system then carries filled bottles to labelling. If you buy bottles rather than blow them on site, the line can be configured from the rinser-filler-capper onwards.

2.How do you prevent PET bottle deformation under carbonation pressure?

PET is flexible, so the bottle is supported and the filling pressure is controlled rather than simply raised. Counter-pressure filling is applied so internal and external pressures stay balanced during the fill, and handling is set for lightweight walls. The line covers 330 ml and 500 ml bottles up to 320 mm high and Φ52–84 mm in diameter, filled at a counter-pressure of 0.3–0.5 MPa; lightweight bottles run with a matching neck guide and lower conveyor air pressure so the body is never gripped.

3.Can one PET line run both still and carbonated beverages?

Yes. The line handles water, juice and tea as well as beer and carbonated beverages. Both run on the same 12, 18 or 24-head counter-pressure monoblock — still products are filled with the counter-pressure step switched off — so alternating between them is a settings change rather than a machine change. Still and carbonated products need different valve and pressure design, and carbonated filling is slower per bottle because of the counter-pressure cycle, so both the valve set and the capacity calculation depend on your split between the two.

4.What bottle weight and diameter can the air conveyor handle?

Bottle handling covers heights of 150–320 mm and diameters of Φ52–84 mm in the 330 ml and 500 ml formats; weight is not the limiting factor, because the neck ring carries the bottle and air pressure is reduced for lightweight preforms. The air conveyor handles bottles by the neck rather than the body, which is what allows lightweight PET to be moved without crushing or scuffing. Send your bottle specification and we will confirm the neck guide and conveyor settings.

5.Should I choose sleeve labelling or self-adhesive labelling?

Both a sleeve labeling machine and a self-adhesive labeling machine are available on this line. Sleeve labelling gives full-body coverage and survives moisture well, which suits contoured PET shapes; self-adhesive labelling is faster and lower cost for standard cylindrical bottles. The choice usually follows your container design and the shelf presentation you want.

6.What is the difference between a PET line and a glass bottle line?

The main differences are container handling and pressure limits. A glass line can use mechanical infeed and standard rinser-filler-capper handling because glass is rigid; a PET line uses an air conveyor and lighter-touch handling because PET deforms. Filling parameters, change parts and labelling method also differ. See our Automatic Glass Bottle Filling Line for the glass configuration.

7.How much floor space does a PET line need?

For the 1,000–5,000 BPH range, plan on roughly 35–40 m of line length — the conveyor system alone runs about 35 m — with a 6–8 m working width, plus a separate zone for preform storage and bottle blowing. If the blow molding machine is included, the footprint is significantly larger than a filling-only configuration, and the bottle-making area needs its own utilities and handling space. Send your available floor plan and we will return a layout drawing before quotation.

8.Can capacity be expanded as volume grows?

Yes. The line is built with flexible production capacities and a scalable structure, and it integrates easily with additional labelling and packaging equipment. Because the design is modular, expansion usually means adding or upgrading a module rather than replacing the line. Tell us your growth plan at the quotation stage so the layout leaves room for it.
